Harold Bloom


Harold BloomHarold Bloom (born July 11, 1930) is an American writer and literary critic, and is the Sterling Professor of the Humanities at Yale University. He is known for his defense of 19th-century Romantic poets, his unique and controversial theories of poetic influence, and his aesthetic approach to literature and opposition to feminist, Marxist, New Historicist, poststructuralist (deconstructive and semiotic) literary criticism. Bloom is a 1985 recipient of the MacArthur Fellowship.
