Edited by the author's son, the book is primarily based on Niebuhr's manuscript 'On Faith' and on the Stone Lectures he gave at Princeton Theological Seminary in 1951-52. It addresses such issues as the structure of human faith; trust, belief, and loyalty as elements of faith; the association between interpersonal faithfulness and faith in God; the roles of faith in marriage, political association, and science; the relation of faith to education, church, and Scriptures; the broken forms of faith; and the reconstruction of faith.
